Webinar: Persona Education - Life Skills & Wellbeing CoP Webinar with Lucy Stephens

Lucy Stephens, Founder and Director of our school, shares her experiences of ‘doing education differently’ in this Persona Education webinar.

The New School gives students a powerful sense of agency to influence their own lives and the world around them. It looks at education not only through the lens of passing tests; instead prioritising creativity, mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. The young people participate fully in decision-making which affects their education.

Lucy has spent a number of years researching what a school model of education could look like when it is structured in a way that values relationships, equity and inclusion. Our education system today categorises this educational model as ‘alternative’, making most settings private, and therefore cost prohibitive; often excluding the young people most advantaged by this relational model. With a growing mental health crisis in the UK, Lucy is interested in what we can learn from The New School – a non fee-paying alternative educational model in action – as well as the broader social and emotional outcomes that are generated, in order to challenge the current educational narrative in the UK and better support teachers and young people.

Persona Education Life Skills & Wellbeing Community of Practice is a welcoming and inclusive global community of practice for educators, school leaders, academics, and other stakeholders in the education community. An online safe space for this community to come together to share best practices, challenges, learning and opportunities around social-emotional life skills and student wellbeing.
