Lucy Gleave - Impact Consultant
Lucy Gleave - Impact Consultant

As an impact consultant, I’m passionate about helping organisations put impact at the heart of everything they do to realise lasting social change. I have over 11 years’ experience of social research, monitoring & evaluation and impact strategy in the public and charity sectors, specialising in work with children and young people. I am a Trustee of The Charity Evaluation Working Group (ChEW) convening evaluators to drive impact practice and standards in the charity sector, and was formerly Senior Head of Impact at The Prince’s Trust.

I’m delighted to be supporting The New School to build their impact capabilities; to learn in the pursuit of building a game changing model of education and showcase the power of young person agency to transform lives.

I’m a qualified accountant of 18 years with the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales. I trained with Deloitte, qualifying in 2001, and left to work in the Head Office of a FTSE 100 company. In 2012 I set up my own business as a sole practitioner. I am responsible for the maintenance of the bookkeeping records, assisting with budget models and monitoring of cashflow to the budget.

I’ve worked in and around the charity sector for over fifteen years, including roles at both large and small charities and at the Charity Commission. I’ve held senior management positions, including at the Prince’s Trust, and led on policy influencing, strategy development and fundraising (from trusts and foundations and corporate partners). I’ve also been a trustee and chair of a welfare benefits advice charity. I’ve previously campaigned on social justice issues, particularly relating to disability and special education needs. I’m also a qualified TEFL teacher and spent two years teaching in Spain. I’m delighted to join the team at The New School and help build a network of supporters and funders to challenge the current educational narrative.

After spending many years in the environmental communications sector and working with over 200 charities around the world, my industry interest diversified and I started my own business that allowed me to apply my experience to other charitable causes. I specialise in social media and digital marketing, as well as generating offline interest through creative event management. I am a writer, both non-fiction and fiction, with articles published in many major environmental publications and blogs for my own business and clients. I’m excited to be working with The New School and making a difference to social change.

I’m a compliance consultant with a community conscience who has a strong moral compass. I’ve worked in the public sector and schools for much of my career until I set up my own business supporting schools and businesses on their road to compliance. I supplement my experience with a post graduate qualification in management and the relevant NEBOSH and ROSPA qualifications. With an enjoyable twelve years in school governance and two years as Chair of the Board of Directors for a Multi Academy Trust which I supported in conversion to Academy status I am enjoying being part of The New Schools journey to opening.
