Every child deserves a voice and a choice in their own education.

Across the UK, too many children are being let down by an education system that no longer fits their needs or their potential.
At The New School, we believe every young person deserves an education that excites their curiosity, nurtures their individuality, and empowers them to shape their own future.

  • Since opening our doors in 2020, we’ve offered 4–16-year-olds in London a bold, fresh approach to learning — one that celebrates creativity, critical thinking, and compassion. Our mission is simple but profound: to transform the way we educate young people in the UK.

  • But real change takes a community. Your support helps us create a school where innovation thrives, teachers are empowered, and children discover who they are and what they can become.

  •  Together, we can build a future where every child has the freedom to learn, grow, and lead — and where education truly changes lives.

Matched funding

Through matched funding with your company, your fundraising efforts could be worth even more to The New School – potentially doubling its value.

If you work for an organisation that has a matched funding policy, any money you raise could be matched by your employer. We understand that the high street banks and building societies, supermarkets and large corporations are likely to do matched funding, but these schemes are not exclusive to the major corporate giants. If you work for an independent company, they may be interested in charitable giving through matched-funding too.

So even if your company does not advertise a formal matched funding schemes please do still ask whether they might be willing to support your efforts and make a matched donation. We have found that even smaller independent companies don’t mind being asked and are often happy to support the charitable efforts of their employees and get involved with their community, when they can.

Many schools benefit from matched funding and it could make a huge difference to the success of one of our fundraising projects so if you are considering becoming a supporter by making a donation or fundraising for The New School, please ask your company about matched funding.

Family Circle

What is the Family Circle?

We are a group of parents and teachers coming together to raise much needed funds for our school.

We do this through events, challenges, sponsorship and other fundraising activities aimed at our school and local community and beyond.

Why do we need to raise money?

The New School is an Independent School which doesn’t charge fees as we believe education is a basic right and should be free. We rely on donations and grants to provide everything we need to run a school for over 100 young people, and also require funding to evaluate and share the learning from our new pioneering educational model so that it can be scaled up and benefit more young people.

How your support will help

Support us today and guarantee the future of our amazing school which embraces new thinking, new ideas and new teaching techniques to enable young people to realise their talents.

Your generous contribution could help us:

  • Make our classrooms an engaging and inclusive space for young people to learn and create

  • Buy a range of books to develop our library and encourage a lifelong love of reading in our students

  • Buy sports equipment and improve our sports provision so that young people can improve their physical talents and teamwork

  • Create a sensory room so that our young people with special needs will have a calm, therapeutic space to relax in and improve their skills

  • Transform our outside area to make an exciting, engaging and safe environment for the whole school community to use and enjoy

Funding FAQs

How are you funded? Why do you need to fundraise? Why is the school not government funded?

The New School is an innovative means of changing education - built on the highest quality research and a belief in the importance of giving young people a voice in their own education. To the best of our knowledge, our structure is completely unique in the UK today.

We believe that the UK education system is failing too many young people and needs a complete rethink. We are committed to educating young people differently. But this requires thinking – and funding - outside the box.

We cannot access regular government mainstream school funding because we know that some of the outcome requirements go against young people’s best interests and can even be harmful (for example the testing of younger children).

As an independent school we could charge fees but we don’t, because we don’t believe income should be a barrier to a better education. That means we had to find new, innovative ways to fund our school. We are therefore working with forward-thinking philanthropists, businesses and charitable foundations who share our pioneering vision. Find out more about our funding model here.

Community is also one of our founding principles and we need the support of our amazing families and our local community with our fundraising efforts. We would love you to support us.

Do you have all the funding secured?

We are fully funded for the first year 20/21 and now our second year 21/22 but we are actively fundraising to secure funds for the third year and beyond. Learn more about our innovative funding model here

How can I support The New School’s funding efforts?

We are so pleased you asked! We need families and our community to come together to help us fundraise and help spread our message to other family members, friends and professional contacts. Find out more about how you can support us here.

How are you evidencing your impact to funders?

We have developed sophisticated impact measures that showcase what we believe a truly great school should be striving to achieve. Our impact measurements go far beyond the narrow focus on exam results that traditional schools are judged on. Our funders believe in and support our impact model because it is robust, comprehensive and based on high quality research. The information we get from this data ensures that we are held to account in providing a personalised education for all young people that delivers on our commitments to both equality and high academic standards. We measure:

  • Self efficacy - Young people have the confidence and belief they will succeed in all they set out to pursue
  • Self esteem - Young people understand and value the attitudes and personal values they hold and express, pursuing these into the future
  • Educational engagement - All young people participate fully in their learning experience, complete schooling and raise aspirations
  • Life satisfaction - young people feel positive about their experience of day to day life and the direction of their future
